The
Cottage Farmhouse is tucked away at the end of a boreen (lane) which joins the
Clonlara Road from Sixmilebridge in County Clare on Irelands West Coast. It is
made available to those seeking a more self sufficient lifestyle. Self
sufficiency (homesteading) and rural living go hand in hand in this area of
Ireland (Eire).
The
Farmhouse is situated some 7 miles from both Limerick and Shannon. Shannon
Airport is a 20 minute drive away. The Town of Ennis and the Village of
Killaloe are close by. Galway is about an hours drive away. The house has 3
Double Bedrooms, Fully fitted Kitchen, with Fridge Freezer, Cooker, and
Microwave. Main Living Room with large Multi fuel stove and cheap to run
night storage heaters. There is a separate Parlour/Dining room. All rooms
throughout the house have been fitted with Double-Glazed windows. The Bathroom
is combined with the Toilet and is to be found upstairs at the end of the
corridor. The entrance is via a good sized porch. A telephone line is installed
as is a Cable TV. system delivering all Irish Channels plus main four U.K.
Channels, Sky News and BBC News 24.
No
property tax or community charge is payable in rural Ireland and there are no
other forms of rates to pay. Water rates do not apply. We have a Workshop
next to the house which could be used by arrangement. The only bills payable
would be electricity, phone and bottled gas for the cooker and any fuel for the
stove.
The
property is sited in a South facing sun trap and has great views of the
surrounding countryside and the distant Mountains. The house has recently had a
new deep bore well drilled. The new well pump can provide about 3oo gallons of
spring water per hour ( more than enough for smallholding needs ). The
Smallholding is approximately 2.5 acres. The Smallholding is an on going project so
there is always more to do outside on the land, we welcome those that are happy
to roll up their sleeves!
The
House and Smallholding are available to rent at a reasonable price on a Strictly Full Year basis, we are not aiming to make
profits from the letting, we set the rent at a level that just allows the
continued existence of the Smallholding, please email to enquire the costs. We
can provide a great stepping stone for people who are wishing to try out the
way of life before committing to purchase their own Smallholding. Life in
the Country is not for the faint hearted, but for those wishing to experience
"Real Living" the rewards can be life changing. People tell us that
there is a lovely atmosphere up on our hill, we certainly love every minute
spent there.
Elderly
Parents needing our care mean that we are now in the U.K. We offer the
Smallholding to rent at 220 euro per week as a full years advance payment which
is payable upon taking residence, we ask that a deposit be paid to secure the
smallholding. As we always receive a lot of enquiries when the old place
becomes available, please read below before registering your interest.
